FS#103 - Latency issue between Cape Town and Johannesburg

Good day,

We are aware of increased latency and the chance of packet loss between Cape Town and Johannesburg.

This issue started at 2019-08-16 @15:30 UTC (17:30 SAST).

The issue is due to one of our carriers loosing two circuits on their primary path. Ref 104867.

Here is the information provided...
ETR provided is 18:15

Below is an extract of the background of the link outage:

• The services were noted to be down on 16Aug2019 at 7:57 UTC. Ticket WIOCCTT63058 has been logged for this case.
• Our technicians have done OTDR tests and established the point of failure to be physical break located 6 km from Wolmeranstad POP on our network in South Africa.
• Teams began digging to expose the cable which was damaged by unknown party by drilling.
• This break is more extensive than thought.
• Teams exposed a few more places where drilling took place vertical on the route.
• Temporary fix not possible; spare ducts also damaged and cables kinked in manholes.
• Ducts will be repaired and new cable floated for permanent repairs.

This task does not depend on any other tasks.
